In Structure_01, Ziggy Kańczukowski turns his lens toward a building facade integrated into the continuous urban fabric of Vienna, Austria. The specific function of the building—whether residential or commercial—is rendered irrelevant by the artist’s gaze. Instead, Kańczukowski focuses entirely on the aesthetic potential of the structure itself. By isolating the rhythmic repetition of the windows and masonry, he transforms an anonymous fragment of the city into a rigorous graphic grid, exploring how light interacts with the surface to create a nearly abstract composition.
This work belongs to the wider Structure series, a direct evolution of the artistic philosophy established in the artist's breakthrough Machine project. Rooted in the concept of finding aesthetic order in the chaos of reality, the series expands the analytical gaze beyond the studio. Just as he once deconstructed a typewriter, here Kańczukowski deconstructs the urban environment, seeking intense rhythm, strong contrast, and a deliberate absence of a single focal point. The resulting image is a silent, meditative study that invites the viewer to rediscover the architecture of the everyday.
This collector’s piece is available as a strictly limited edition of 8 plus 2 Artist Proofs. It is produced as an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle German Etching paper, a heavyweight 310 gsm substrate chosen specifically for its velvety, tactile texture, which enhances the depth and graphic quality of the composition. Each print is hand-signed and numbered on the verso, accompanied by a hologram-secured Certificate of Authenticity (CoA).
For the ultimate presentation, the optional WhiteWall frame with Museum Glass offers virtually invisible glazing with 99% UV protection. This ensures the artwork remains pristine, protecting the pigments from fading and allowing the viewer to experience the rich texture and subtle tonal gradations without distracting reflections for generations.
